The Restaurant

Happy, active children and young people require wholesome food and regular meals. At the Academy we are dedicated to fulfilling this necessity by providing varied, healthy and delicious meals of the highest quality at both breakfast and lunch times.

Our restaurant fosters the ethos of community eating; it provides a relaxing environment where students can unwind with their friends and prepare for the afternoon’s learning. We operate a cashless catering system whereby each student is issued with a dinner card which can be loaded with money (using the ParentPay online system or PayPoint for cash) and used to pay for meals.

We believe our students’ opinions are paramount to the success of our restaurant and invite them to comment on our menus and service via the Academy Council and the Food Ambassadors group. The latter of these two has been introduced for this purpose and serves to encourage students to contribute ideas for the restaurant and our menus

Free School Meals

Your child could qualify for free school meals. It is important that children who are entitled to a free school meal take up this right. A high percentage of children who are eligible do not claim their free school meal entitlement. Are you on a low income and struggling to meet the cost of school meals? If you are a parent, guardian or foster carer of children at school or who are attending nursery for full days, you may be entitled to free school meals.

You are entitled to this help if you get:

• Income Support
• Income-based Job Seekers Allowance,
• Income–related Employment Support Allowance
• Pension Guarantee Credit
• Child Tax Credit but do not get Working Tax and your annual taxable income is less than £16,190
• If you have ceased work or reduced your working hours to less than 16 hours and qualify for a working tax credit run on.

You may need to complete a claim form to receive your entitlement.
