Hello, my name is Mr Wood and I am the newest member of the amazing pastoral team, loving every minute of working with the team and young people at Bishop Young Academy!

A little bit about me- as well as my passion for working with young people, there is also a second love. Athletics. Currently training and competing at international level, I have represented Great Britain 5 times winning 8 medals across the 200m 400m and 4x400m relay. I am currently two-time British Indoor Champion and the youngest champion to go under 21 seconds indoor. Very similar to the Bishop Young Ethos, athletics has taught me to stay focused and work for a brighter future!

During my time as a Year Leader, my main goal is to motivate and push all students to achieve their full potential in all aspects of their academic and non academic lives. My role is to make sure that all young people who attended Bishop Young are looked after and provided with the best level of care. I am a direct link between parents and school dealing with any concerns that parents or students may have during their time at Bishop Young. Durham has a very diverse and unique family ethos, resulting in all students feel happy whilst attending school
